This exterior repaint was a bit out of the ordinary and we love it! The clients only wanted the front of the house repainted as it was weatherboard, and all 3 other sides of the house were metal cladding.
The front exterior face of the house was not in good condition at all. The paint work was flaking and there was rot in the windows and boards. We started by scraping all the loose paint, then going over the whole thing with orbital sanders. Once we had scraped, and sanded we primed all the bare timber with an oil based primer, allowed to dry then filled everything with contract filler and filled the gaps with caulk.
The next step was to sand the contract filler and prime with a water-based primer. Once we had done that and it was dry, we opened all the windows so we could paint the side and bottom edges of them, and also to allow us to paint the whole window sill properly. We then applied two coats of Dulux Aquanamel in “Black White” to both of the bay windows and corner trims, and painted the soffits and facia in “Black White” Dulux Weathersheild X10.
To add some colour to this exterior repaint, we then applied two coats of Dulux Weathershield X10 to all the weatherboards (apart from the entrance way) in “Fuscous Grey” and two coats of the same product to the entrance way in “Triple Black White”. Lastly, we prepped and primed the front door and applied two coats of Dulux Aquanamel Semi Gloss in “Kumutoto” to make it really standout.
This added so much character to the home. The dark “Fuscous Grey” really makes the white trims pop, while the light entrance way and “Kumutoto” blue door make you feel as if your in Santorini – we really love this colour scheme!
